Job Description
  • Position Summary

We are seeking an expert synthetic chemist to support our research and development efforts for next generation of separation media. The successful candidate should be a scientist with experience in organic synthesis and surface modification, bringing a strong chemistry skill set and a molecular level mind-set to enhance our R&D team.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Initiate, review, and execute scientific research including organic synthesis, surface modification and comprehensive characterization to develop innovative technology, trade secrets, and company intellectual property Develop innovative chemistry for next generation of chromatography consumables.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of chemistry aspect of chromatography with an emphasis on separation media.
  • Act as a technical expert in new product development process including discovery, feasibility, implementation, and commercialization.
  • Work with product management in gathering voice-of-customer (VOC), defining market requirements and translating market requirements into product specifications.
  • In conjunction with business operations support the introduction of new products in an efficient, robust and cost effective manner, within agreed timescales.
  • Prepare new product SOPs and working instructions according to ISO9001 requirements and transfer them to manufacturing Contribute to chromatography consumables Intellectual Property (IP) portfolio by producing invention disclosures and filing patents.
  • Maintain detailed records of all work carried out and report out in a clear, timely and informative manner.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and instrumentation, and recommends replacement as needed.
  • Prepare written reports, give presentations and present posters at exhibitions and conferences providing an authoritative level of technical and applications support for customers.
  • Plan and manage project timescales, and monitor performance against requirements to ensure milestones are achieved Make recommendations for capital expenditures to support essential R&D activities.
  • Actively participate in PPI activities to improve effectiveness of business unit functions / processes

Minimum Qualifications/ Requirements
  • Ph.D. degree or equivalent in synthetic chemistry, or a closely related field focusing on organic synthesis, with 2 years of related hands on experience.
  • Or M.S. in synthetic chemistry, or a closely related field focusing on organic synthesis, and/or polymer chemistry, with a minimum of 5 years of related hands-on experience.
  • Must have strong background in synthetic organic chemistry.
  • Must have excellent inter-personal, communication and organizational skills.
  • Expert knowledge of scientific principles, concepts, practices and standards in synthetic chemistry applied to chromatography is required
  • Ability to independently design, plan and execute project tasks and scientific research and development is required
  • Ability to plan and control project timescales and execution strategies in complex technical and operational situations is desired
  • Ability to drive the realization of technical excellence and under the guidance of R&D leadership undertake targeted development projects with a focus on materials science applied to chromatography and end user convenience is desired
  • Knowledge of Intellectual Property basics, risks and strategies. Ability to contribute or produce invention disclosures, patents and publications is desired
  • Technical communication requirements: ability to produce and present original technical communication materials for internal and external audiences.
  • Knowledge of project management concepts is desired
  • Proficiency if PC software applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required
