Job Description

Job Summary:

The Business Development Manager is a field sales position responsible for both capital equipment and consumable sales in GSD/CSD division. The position manages the sales of a strategic product portfolio in an assigned geography in accordance with approved sales and marketing plans. The Business Development Manager will comprehend and utilize product features, benefits and applications accompanied with selling and business building skills to successfully promote and consummate the sale of Company products and services to achieve or exceed the assigned territory/business area sales plan. The Business Development Manager will also be the primary focus driver and drive the strategic plan with local TSS or sales team to penetrate and grow the new business. The Business Development Manager will be recognized as a business development leader within the sales force that drives strategic objectives and adoption of new products.

Essential Job Functions and Accountabilities:

This position is responsible for Infectious & inherited disease and animal health applications across the GSD /CSD product portfolios, including NGS, qPCR, CE, Microarray. Need to build up the target numbers of ID (Infectious & inherited disease) and animation health accounts in SEATW region. Pre-sales support

  • Develop the strategic plans for new business or focus area.
  • Conduct the new business training and provide clear position of products for sales and support team
  • Cooperate with local team to drive sales activities and opportunities identified by sales leadership to meet or exceed revenue goals.
  • Develop and design the workflow selling strategies for new business.
  • Set up the reference labs with local team to drive the incremental growth
  • Demonstrate use of advanced selling skills in the field, such as making good opening statements, connecting with the customer, asking high gain questions, creating the value proposition and closing. Has proven solution and big deal selling skills.
  • Cooperate with marketing team to drive new focus through events or workshops.

Account management

  • Establish the targeted numbers of KOLs or reference labs at assigned territories for the new business
  • Consistently follow-up with local team to ensure the adoption of technology
  • Timely gather feedbacks from the KOLs or reference labs to be able to fix with local team or escalation to global product management team
  • Cooperate with marketing team to drive new focus through events or workshops.


  • Provide comprehensive information on all activities to Sales leaders, Sales Representatives and TSS in supported territories and regions.
  • Timely conduct calls with global product management team in order to fulfill the new business needs.
  • Coordinate the regional calls or actively provide the oral and written communication of successes, failures, best practices etc to improve the overall operating efficiency of the team, region and sales organization.

Educational Qualification: A Master degree or PhD in the life sciences is highly desirable.

Must-have Experience:

NGS business development experience. Ion Torrent or illumina will be highly preferred. qPCR/CE/microarray business development experience.

Nice to Have Experience:

Bioinformatics knowledge Hands on experiences of molecular biology techniques: CE, NGS sequencing, qPCR, Microarray.

Other Job Requirements:

English and Mandarin language proficiency due to customer profiles

Travel expectation: 50% of working time.
