Job Description

The Scientist I, Manufacturing Sciences (Antigen QC Group) will support the production of antigens for the manufacturing of different product lines of the Antibody Detection Product family such as LAT, FlowPRA and LABScreen. The role is expected to follow all company and department standard operating procedures, PSWIs, safety rules, GMP and GDP.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and prioritize daily tasks or assignments given by Supervisor
  • Prepare QC reagents and antigens
  • Perform QC assay
  • Perform protein characterization
  • Perform cell culture tests
  • QC of harvested cells
  • Perform cell isolation
  • Upload data in a timely manner and assist in data analysis
  • Record antigen and harvested cells QC information and maintain necessary paperwork
  • Maintain laboratory work area, equipment and corresponding logs
  • Inventory of laboratory reagents and materials
  • Perform data entry in a conscientious manner
  • Ensure that all laboratory protocols and procedures are properly and safely followed for the safety of all employees and to maintain the quality of all the products involved
  • Ensure the application of universal precautions in handling of all blood and blood products
  • Notify immediate supervisors of any unsafe conditions and/or practices and take appropriate corrective action

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in biology or chemical science or related field
  • General lab knowledge and/or experience
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of all business, scientific information and data
  • General awareness of laboratory procedure, biochemistry and quantitative chemistry
  • Able to perform and follow technical laboratory protocols
  • Able to interact daily with the laboratory staff, including project leaders and general laboratory staff members, in coordinating daily activities
  • Able to plan and organize work in a reliable and consistent manner
  • Able to systematically follow instructions and perform laboratory bench work with minimal supervision
  • Able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with both supervisor and co-workers
  • Able to work as a cooperative member of the Antigen Production Group
  • Basic knowledge of Word and Excel
  • Experienced with GMP and GDP in a production environment
  • Must ensure that safe laboratory procedures and protocols are followed at all times

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
  • Able to sit for long periods of time at a laboratory bench
  • Able to lift 35 to 40 pounds
  • Able to enter data and documentation into computer in a timely fashion



This position has not been budgeted for relocation.
