Position Summary: Job Description

Thermo Fisher Scientific is looking for a Software Quality Assurance Director, Information Technology to provide vision and leadership to the Global Digital Testing/Software QA team. This is a hands-on director position supporting testing activities for multi-tiered B2C and B2B websites that use legacy and latest Digital and mobile technologies, including ERP interfaces. This position will work in a fast-paced environment with a variety of internal teams and external vendors to drive testing throughout the organization. The director position will own the overall quality of the Digital system and will be responsible for defining, planning, executing and improving quality and testing strategies. This position will also oversee the daily operations, manage resources/vendors and budget to ensure successful testing is delivered in the Digital area in a cost effective way.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of Digital Software QA strategy and operational execution plans
  • Manage and develop a global team of highly skilled Software QA/Test Engineers, including setting annual performance goals, developing career plans and ensuring the team is highly motivated
  • Advise and provide recommendations to C-level decision makers regarding quality standards
  • Initiate activities to improve quality across organization
  • Become a technical authority in the testing area within the organization
  • Lead, debate, and communicate with key decision makers internally and externally; serve as mentor
  • Exercise latitude in determining approaches to critical assignments; work on issues that impact future strategic testing needs and technology
  • Maintain and use contacts throughout the organization, industry, and other professional organizations in order to improve testing services for Thermo Fisher Scientific
  • Direct projects of critical importance; provide leadership and guidance to global project teams for planning, building, and performing QA functions for Digital applications
  • Define and track quality assurance metrics, including KPI’s and dashboards
  • Work with development, business, operations and program management teams to certify production releases by providing appropriate test coverage and identifying and mitigating associated risks
  • Oversee the testing methodology and implementation, project scheduling, scope and quality of deliverables and resource management
  • Provide leadership and strategy for QA in the Cloud applications and Mobility area
  • Strategizing and implementing latest software QA technologies and tools to enable for dynamic and fast paced implementation

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent
  • Minimum of 10 years of IT Software QA, Release Management, or Development experience
  • 5+ years directly leading global QA teams (15+ resources)
  • Experience with - web technologies (HTTP, HTML, AJAX, web services, SOAP, XML) and ERP (SAP, JDE, IBM Mainframe) strongly preferred
  • Expertise in software quality best practices, and test strategy/planning, different types of testing – Functional/GUI, Integration/API, Structural/Performance and Automation
  • Experience with testing automation tools/processes
  • Experience in implementing Quality Dashboards, KPI implementation, effective test reporting
  • Good exposure to various methodologies including Waterfall, Iterative and Agile/SCRUM development; experience transitioning QA Teams from Waterfall to Agile model
  • Experience in working with multiple vendors to fulfill resourcing needs
  • Demonstrate good problem solving, negotiating, conflict management and decision making skills
  • Passion for Quality, great communication skills and ‘can-do’ attitude

Bonus Points:

  • Exposure to testing in FDA-regulated environment
  • Preferable certifications in Agile/SCRUM, Project management
  • Experience in Healthcare manufacturing Industry

Experience with Cloud computing
