Sales Engineer (m/f)

Position Summary:
The Sales Representative (Germany, Austria, Netherlands) is a key commercial role in the Thermo Fisher Scientific EPM business unit. Using your sales expertise you will be expected to lead all selling and commercial activities for all industries in relation to the EPM Process Analyzers product range and other strategic products (when appropriate), directly to end users, and systems integrators within the region. Responsible for the development and implementation of territory selling strategies to secure sales growth consistent with corporate business unit Annual Operating Plan (AOP).


Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Promote Thermo business for the assigned products and territory to realize AOP bookings and revenues
  • Develop the account management activities for the territory to drive account expansion and penetration; develop long-term relationships and ensure customer satisfaction
  • Develop and build key accounts within the pharmaceutical, chemical, iron & steel and academic sectors
  • Identify and interpret customer requirements, shape and align those requirements to Thermo Fisher Scientific capabilities and then apply Thermo Fisher Scientific solutions to the customer needs, effectively communicating these to customers
  • Maintain accurate and current records of proposals, opportunities, accounts, contacts, leads and actions through Salesforce.com CRM system
  • Plan, organize and accurately forecast territory results on a weekly basis
  • Work directly with Customer Support function to ensure that quotations, order entry and customer support processes are efficient and supportive of assigned industry customers and sales team needs
  • Work closely with the Marketing department to identify and assess new opportunities for existing products as well as opportunities for new product development
  • Interface with Field Service to exchange customer information and ensure adequate support of the account base

Requirements/Qualifications:
  • BS / MS degree or equivalent in technical discipline
  • Strong experience in process analytics in a sales / customer-facing role
  • Experience in working strategic accounts – Key Account Development and selling skills an advantage
  • Must have excellent communication and presentation skills in English and German language.
  • Must be a team player with ability to interface across internal and external complex matrix organizations
  • Ability to persuade, influence and negotiate with key stakeholders

Key Success Factors:
  • Experience in managing independent sales territories as assigned
  • A proven track record in achieving sales quotas
  • Available for up to 70% business travel
