Position Summary

Reporting to the Director, Supply Chain, San Jose, the Strategic Sourcing Specialist, will play an integral part in aligning the Production and Supply Chain organizations. They will be responsible for managing the on-going performance and continuous improvement for our key site suppliers. They will play a critical in managing Engineering Change Orders, determining prices and own cost savings results, drive Supplier Business Reviews and Supplier Scorecards. They will be an escalation point for the Buying team.



Key Duties and Responsibilities

Specialists are responsible for the following roles/responsibilities for their categories (commodities):
  • Reviewing, approving, and implementing Engineering Change Orders
  • Facilitating the Identification of alternates for obsolete and/or EOL parts
  • Out-Sourcing / Re-Sourcing Projects and results
  • Improving overall Supplier Performance; Managing Scorecards / Supplier Business Reviews
  • Driving Cost Savings and managing Exceptions, Inflation, Reporting, PPV, Quoting)
  • Addressing EOL Parts
  • Negotiating Pricing / Determining Pricing / Entering Prices into ERP
  • Aligning with Division / Corporate Sourcing


Minimum Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering or a related field is preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Procurement, preferably within a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in cost model analysis and strategic supplier selections
  • Powerful negotiation skills alongside the ability to understand how to strike the balance of cost in a low volume/high mix environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in sourcing PCA’s for both NPI and Spares.
  • Solid background in lean manufacturing tools and techniques
  • Independent self-starter who can manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience using an ERP system for purchasing activity, preferably SAP
  • Strong capabilities with MS Office, particularly advanced functions within Excel
