Position Summary

The Gas Chromatography & Mass Spectrometry (GC & GCMS) product line is an exciting and innovative line of scientific instruments sold to environmental, food safety, forensic, toxicology, pharmaceutical, research, university and industrial customers. To ensure products meet customer expectations and drive continued business growth we count on the product lifecycle strategy & vision from the product management team.
This role leads a team of 8 individuals and requires a talented, flexible leader with strong communications skills, adept business knowledge and organizational agility. We seek an experienced business professional capable of bridging customer needs and broader market trends to product requirements and go-to-market strategy. As the leader of the Product Management team, you will shape the future direction of our products. You and your team will lead the charge in translating the overall product vision and strategy into roadmaps and business plans. Along the way you will grow, develop and mentor a team of talented product management professionals.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Leads 8 direct reports in the Product Management team to shape product strategy.
  • Provide mentorship and career guidance to the product management team including management of employees in both Texas & Italy
  • Lead direct and indirect reports in a matrix environment to successfully accomplish business and revenue goals
  • Manages the product lifecycle including developing and recommending product, positioning, pricing, and promotional strategy to produce the highest possible long-term market share
  • Develop the product vision & value proposition and continuously communicate to internal and external stakeholders
  • Drive development and communication of business and product strategy, business plans & roadmaps
  • Conduct gap analysis, assess product line strengths and areas for improvement and implement solutions
  • Oversee market development analysis: customer requirements, trends and future needs
  • Conduct market research including Voice of Customer (VOC) and Voice of Sales (VOS)
  • Develop customer profiles including purchasing behaviors and product selection approaches
  • Define the requirements and specifications for new products and ensure deliverables for NPD/NPI are met up to and including successful product launch
  • Performs competitive and market analysis connecting key strategic projects with implications and possible outcomes
  • Researches, analyzes, and monitors financial, technological, regional and demographic factors to capitalize on market opportunities and minimize effects of competitive activity
  • Coordinate and synchronize product-related activities with other functions of the organization involved in the product lifecycle (e.g., Research & Development, Product Support, Sales)
  • Lead change and implement the organizational direction and communication practices necessary to achieve business results and collaboration across functions
  • Build, develop and mentor an effective and talented Product Management team
  • Works on special projects as assigned in connection with the Business Unit goals and strategy

Minimum Qualifications/ Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree required preferably in chemistry or life sciences. MBA or related advanced degree desired.
  • 10+ years of relevant professional experience, including broad-based experience in strategy consulting, business strategy, market analysis and financial analysis required.
  • In-depth knowledge of the life sciences industry.
  • Broad managerial experience.
  • Strong business acumen and a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain professional and personal relationships with key business partners and customers positively impacting business growth.
  • Excellent communication, team-building, and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated success in hiring strong talent and developing a team
  • Proven track record of effectively driving large scale initiatives from a business and cultural standpoint.
  • Ability to understand, analyze and assimilate complex issues, draw correct conclusions and formulate clear strategy and policies.
  • Effective negotiation skills.
  • High level of intellectual curiosity combined with a ‘results-driven’ mindset.
  • Highly self-motivated with ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and initiatives.
  • Ability to build, manage, and inspire teams across a global matrix environment; effective at influencing others and building relationships; collaborative approach
  • Experience working in a multinational / multicultural environment
  • Ability to travel 30% - domestic & international
