Job Description
Position Summary

The Global Commodity Manager, as part of the NPI Mechanical Process, is the primary owner of the supplier relationship for Mechanical High Precision Components on a Global basis. With technology partners, and in accordance with the commodity strategy, will drive the supplier strategy process including supplier selection, reviews and risk mitigation and oversee overall supplier management for the category.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Drive all supplier activity within the category to deliver best cost, quality and supply chain performance for our products.
•Lead cross functional commodity teams to select and implement suppliers to optimize the supply chain from NPI to production and sustaining our product in the market.
•Partner with quality and design engineering in managing the qualification of new or alternate components and suppliers to optimize supply risk and costs.
•Partner with NPI and design teams to present commodity strategies, supplier roadmaps & capabilities and optimized supply chain solutions for our products.
•Provide supplier reviews, commodity inputs, and socialize commodity plans to stakeholders to mitigate supply chain risks and deliver preferred supply base solutions.
•Lead cost reduction initiatives from idea generation, approval and project implementation.
•Establish commodity competency and pricing expertise. Monitor markets and determine strategies for capturing market benefits as well as mitigating market headwinds.
•Escalation point for the division to resolve quality and/or material corrective actions to support business objectives including customer service, on-time delivery, inventory turns and cost management.
•Drive and maintain low cost country sourcing and capacity management for the category
•Drive evaluations, decisions and execution of RFx results for the category.
•Establish, maintain / develop long-term strategic relationships with critical suppliers.
•Conduct formal business reviews with key suppliers.
•Analyze data and publish reports for performance updates, issues and metrics

Minimum Qualifications/ Requirements

• 8+ years specific experience in the mechanical commodity area.
• Expert proficiency in Windows (Excel & Access) based office software.
• Demonstrated excellence and proficiency in Spend Analytics and eSourcing technologies, software, SAS, and ERP systems a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams in a large matrix and global organizations.
• Strong communication skills, including excellent interpersonal skills
• Strong analytical skills required
• Strong knowledge of the strategic sourcing process and practical application of the process to sourcing projects and product design requirements.
• Proven leadership ability and problem-solving skills are a must.
• Ability to travel up to 50% annually on a global basis.
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
