Job Description
Position Summary

The Production Manager is responsible for providing oversight of manufacturing engineering, production and test with responsibility for leading a team of associates to achieve required business results. The Production Manager ensures products are manufactured and tested with the highest level of quality in a safe and timely manner that will meet or exceed customer expectations while maintaining all equipment to do so. This person must also utilize, encourage and apply 5S, Standard Operating Procedures, Standard Work, Daily Management, Lean practices and provide coaching and mentoring as necessary to achieve continuous improvement. This role develops and builds strong working relationships with their team and with employees from other functional areas and shifts. The Production Manager is directly responsible for overall performance of the manufacturing/test team of approximately 30 employees and 2 Manufacturing Engineers. The Production Manager will be responsible for meaningful performance management of all associates under their direction.


Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for maintaining a safe workplace and high level of safety awareness among team
  • Drive daily performance and customer focus in the area of responsibility
  • Maintain positive employee relations through the use of clear communication skills; listens, supports, engages and encourages employee suggestions and input to achieve results
  • Drive daily accountability and clarity between employee daily work and site success
  • Develop, review, and present various work/management reports to accurately measure production/test processes and make recommendations for improvement
  • Develop capacity analysis and plans to accurately define resource and headcount planning
  • Lead the implementation of Practical Process Improvement (PPI) into operations
  • Participate and support continuous improvement teams to improve process and product flow
  • Lead and support PPI initiatives including but not limited to Tier I, II, and III Daily management, GEMBA walks, 5 ā€œSā€, Leader Standard Work, and KPI metrics

  • Provide training and guidance to enable employees to develop their skills and abilities
  • Provide constant shop floor leadership presence
  • Make disciplinary decisions and carry out associated plans
  • Monitor absenteeism and timekeeping
  • Oversee a meaningful PMD (performance management) process for all reports
  • Balance safety, quality, productivity, cost, and morale to achieve positive results in all areas
  • Collaborate with material management to maximize throughput and attainment
  • Other miscellaneous activities as assigned


Minimum Qualifications/ Requirements

  • BA or BS degree in Engineering or Management
  • 7+ years of related work experience in manufacturing
  • Minimum of five years demonstrated leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to work as part of a team, self-motivated, adaptable and a positive attitude
  • Demonstrate strong business acumen, organizational and analytical skills
  • Effective employee management skills including ability to provide constructive feedback.
  • Ability to lead, coach, counsel and encourage subordinates
  • Continuous Improvement experience such as PPI
  • Quality Systems Regulations/ISO experience
  • Excellent communication skills with strong attention to detail
  • ERP software experience
  • Proficient in MS applications (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously
