Business Development Manager EMEA (home based)

The key responsibility of this position is to develop strategic plans for the Water Analysis Instruments business to ensure its continued growth and profitability. Typically, the Business Development Manager (BDM) analyses complex business problems and issues using data from internal and external sources to provide insight to decision-makers. The BDM identifies and interprets trends and patterns in datasets to locate influences. Constructs forecasts, recommendations and strategic/tactical plans based on business data and market knowledge in order to achieve sales revenue and sales growth objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead all new business development activities inside assigned accounts within the Industrial segment through proposal and negotiation, culminating in new contract agreements
  • Build a strong understanding of assigned customers and their marketplaces through a broad range of information sources, including direct customer exchanges, networking, publications, market information, colleagues, and industry events
  • Coordinate need assessment activities, develop and execute against an optimal account entry strategy, and clearly articulate customized value propositions focused on addressing the customers internal challenges or areas of focus
  • Develop and manage efficient channel roadmaps; track progress against channel development milestones; report out progress in regularly scheduled review sessions
  • Engage and lead field selling resources to ensure strategic alignment, information sharing, and team execution
  • Understand competitive landscape, current competitive contracts with assigned customers, and the impact on our account development strategy
  • Lead all proposal development activities, either in response to a customer RFP or proactively, including value proposition, terms, and negotiating pricing with suppliers; lead pro forma review process to justify business proposal
  • Clearly and broadly articulate components of negotiated contracts and ensure strong implementation and execution against customer and company expectations; work with assigned commercial management to ensure smooth handoff and continued account development
  • Create a lead pipeline, funnel management and achieve required wins
  • May provide consultation to managers and lead cross-functional teams to address business issues and directly produce datasets and reports for analysis using system reporting tools
  • Drive business development at assigned major customer call points to penetrate and grow current and new business
  • Creating and implementing innovative methods to acquire new customers and/or channels retaining existing customers and channels.
  • Up to 50% travel required

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business and/or Economics. Master’s degree will have an added weightage.
  • Previous sales experience of at least 3 years is mandatory

Skills and Experience
  • Excellent technical skill and experience in Water Analysis product lines would be of advantage
  • Ability to navigate accounts in broad geography effectively and advance the capital equipment sales process consistently
  • Highly proficient sales and organizational skills, ability to manage multiple high values, long sales cycle business opportunities simultaneously
  • High motivation and energy level to develop new business
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Willingness to travel internationally
