Background
Ion Torrent R&D develops Next-Generation DNA and RNA sequencing products for clinical and research markets. This work proves data intensive; we continually improve and adapt our data analysis methods and algorithms to enhance commercial success.
Project
The successful candidate will investigate (assisted by their manager) how amplicons sequences affect sequencing performance. Sequence motif analysis has been performed previously. To extend this work, machine learning approaches such as SVM and Deep Neural Networks will be applied. The results will enable better amplicon design (as determined by the primers).
Required
Senior year in undergraduate program in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or similarly field.
Moderate-level skill in any modern programming language. (e.g., Python, Perl, Java, C/C++, R, SAS, MATLAB, etc.)
Ability to work as an effective team member.
Eagerness to expand technical and workplace skills on the job.
Preferred
Enrollment in Master’s or PhD. Program.
Knowledge of machine learning techniques
Knowledge about PCR and Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS).
Experience with software engineering practices such as version control and documentation.
