We're seeking a highly energetic and skilled student to help provisioning compute environment for analysis of next-generation DNA sequencing data. The successful candidate will be part of a multi-disciplinary team developing applications for Ion Torrent DNA sequencing instruments. As part of this team, the student will be expected to work in a fast paced, complex setting to hard deliverables in a collaborative environment. Critical thinking, project ownership, engagement, determination to succeed, the willingness and courage to push the boundaries on the possible and the drive to deliver are key attributes.
The individual will contribute to solutions driving cheaper and easier-to-manage cloud compute environment for analysis of human genetic variation obtained by high-throughput sequencing. The candidate will work on following: developing, evaluating, improving and documenting provisioning Ion Reporter Cloud compute environment, measuring production site usage pattern and optimizing provision.
Student in computer science or similar enrolled in Bachelor or Master program. Demonstration of analytical skills and problem solving. Ability to engage in clear written and oral communication. Strong programming experience in shell script and python on Linux platform. Working experience and knowledge with cloud platform Amazon AWS and job scheduler SGE is preferable. Familiarity and working experience with container like Docker and virtualization is highly desirable. Experience with high performance compute is desirable.
