For this location we are looking for a
R&D Scientist (f/m)
Major Responsibilities:
- Development of high-performance miniaturized instrumentation and related technologies in a highly motivated multi-national multi-disciplinary team in Bremen, Germany
- Leading design and test of new detectors, including guidance of mechanical and electrical engineers
- Leading role in generation of new intellectual property and freedom-to-operate reviews
- Formulation and execution of feasibility experiments to show the proof of principle of new development ideas
- Participation in product development projects
- Practical and theoretical characterization of newly developed instrumentation
- Creation of verification test plans and test summary reports
- Development of factory acceptance test procedures in cooperation with manufacturing
- Knowledge transfer to manufacturing, product support and field service on newly developed instruments or components
Preferred Qualifications:
- PhD degree in physics, engineering, chemistry or related science
- Proven 3-5 year experience and strong experimental and theoretical skills in development of complex instrumentation, especially in the areas of: micro- or nano- electromechanical systems, microelectronics, nanotechnology
- Strong desire to push the limits of science and technology
- Preferably, experience writing programs for instrument control applications using C, C++, Visual Basic, or scripting languages
- Fluent in English, willing to learn German
- Good written and oral communication skills.
