Conduct pre-designed experiments using laboratory equipment and calculations. Verify product design and performance during development studies. Products include benchtop instruments, sample preparation, synthetic biology, and protein expression. Plan the use of equipment, materials and own time. Assist in lab procurement, calibration or maintenance of equipment. Make detailed observations and basic data analysis. Advise supervisor of factors that may affect quality, accuracy, timeliness and usefulness of data. Troubleshoot experiments with assistance from supervisor. With supervisor's guidance, become familiar with literature directly associated with assigned project and transmit information gathered to other members of the scientific team. Maintain complete and thorough lab notebook and training file in accordance with division standard. Comply with all company safety regulations and procedures. Normally receives general instruction on routine work, detailed instruction on new assignments. Job encounters recurring work situations with occasional variations from the norm, involving a moderate degree of complexity. May be required to perform other related duties as needed.
Main duties would include, but may not be limited to:
Running tests and experiments in the laboratory.
Preparing PCR reaction plates and running on AB qPCR systems.
Contributing to writing and executing test plans and reports.
Executing statistical data analysis.
Major responsibilities are understanding and executing procedures, accurately recording data, and assisting in data analysis.
Experience working in a lab environment and familiarity with basic laboratory practices a must.
Experience with qPCR techniques and nucleic acid extraction methods desired.
Good communication and organizational skills desired.
Familiarity with proper documentation practices desired.
Experience with Excel and JMP data analysis, a plus.
Continuing degree in the field of Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related field and some laboratory experience. An interdisciplinary education and/or experience is preferred to allow for a systems-level approach on projects.
