Position Summary:

This is a home office position to be based either out of Germany or Austria


Within the European Sales Support team this role is primarily responsible for the provision of technical and applications advice, training and support of customers in the Central Europe region. This role is responsible for the relevant product line and the related market.
The role entails acquiring, maintaining and sharing expertise and best practices for that specific product line with the rest of the sales support organisation and the sales team. This role is expected to be part of a matrix team which together will focus on the specific product line. Participation is expected in product demonstrations, sales calls, technical advice and training to sales colleagues, customer visits, application development, scientific events, customer support, customer product focused training and field marketing for relevant product or market responsibility. This role encompasses both the pre-sales process and post-sales support. This role is expected to be a product-focused expert working close with the associated Sales Team including both ‘hands-on’ in a Thermo Fisher Scientific lab or at a customer site as well as with our factory, marketing and sales teams to develop and implement programs, promotions and new product introductions.


Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • An expert has the responsibility to collect, collate, keep up to date and distribute information relevant to their product or market responsibility.
  • Provides high quality and effective pre- and post-sales support working closely with the associated Sales Team, factory based product and vertical marketing teams, other product lines, service and sales. When developing or acquiring best practices and applications will ensure that methods developed and best practices are shared with other members of the matrix team, the responsible sales support managers and other related functional teams.
  • Responsible to ensure best practice in the performance of top-class customer demonstrations, application methods, customer training and other activities within the relevant product or market responsibility working closely with sales colleagues and other responsible colleagues within the CTD organization. Close co-operation with other product lines for the relevant market or application is required to make best use of available resources and customer requirements.
  • Participate actively in users meetings and conferences and other events as needed.
  • Responsible to co-develop and adapt appropriate training collateral to fit both customer and internal requirements.
  • Responsible for identifying training needs and coordinating the delivery of training to the sales support organization and sales team for the designated product line and market and ensuring that their capabilities and competencies meet the needs and requirements of the sales support team for the relevant product line within the market.


Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry or similar. PhD preferred.
  • Excellent relevant product line knowledge with typically >10 years hands-on product experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to speak the “technical language” of the customer
  • Good self-organizational skills
  • Excellent inter-personal skills
  • Direct or matrix management experience preferred
  • Driving License
  • Ability and Willingness to travel: above 50%
  • Willingness to travel extensively mainly within the appointed region but occasionally through Europe
  • Additional EU Language skills are a positive asset
