Job Description
Position Summary:

Working as part of the regional and global Culture Media Product Management team to effectively manage a business-critical product portfolio, including our collection an transport product range, and our “custom” culture media products. With a solid technical understanding and demonstrating an ability to drive sometimes complex analysis to completion (e.g. projects delivered over the line with a measurable return on investment) and product improvement. A tenacious, enthusiastic can do person with strong influencing skills. Would suit a candidate keen to make the leap into commercially focused microbiology, product management and marketing – an individual who wants to learn every day.

Key Responsibilities:­
­
  • Strong contribution to overall revenue, margin and unit goals of defined culture media products – proposing sales and budget guidelines and assumptions then consolidate and critically review submitted regional sales plans, accurate demand forecasting.
  • Define user and market needs working closely with R&D to develop defined new products that solve customer challenges; including co-ordination of product technical data – features, benefits and proof – building momentum post launch as well as a compelling customer value proposition at launch.
  • Maintain knowledge of the trends and competitors’ activities relevant to the assigned products and recommends new approaches to the current plan.
  • Co-ordinate and manage implementation of corrective actions and marketing activities including production of required marketing and technical literature.
  • Champion the product “specials” to drive revenue growth and process improvements to deliver better customer satisfaction.
  • Clear overview of product range and develop activities that maximize sales growth; in addition to current trend – seek and realize opportunities for line extensions, regional penetration and product rationalization to improve bottom line and reduce complexity.
  • Support sales to reach targets. Understand key ranges from ‘ingredients to customers to future requirements’
  • Create, coordinate and deliver sales training and proactively communicate with management on the product portfolio, its performance, and changes in the marketplace.
  • Develop margin expansion through management of product value stream, range rationalization and clear price guidance to the organization.
  • Contribute to training programs that enable capability and confidence to over-sell specific products in the range. Critically review training outcomes including sales impact.
  • Develop product launch and product focus plans, in collaboration with marketing management and regional marketing; including networking through the Thermo Fisher organization to identify products and workflow solutions that strengthen our strategic plans.
  • Demonstrate cross functional communication to ensure continuous improvement in line with the demands of the customer.
  • Ongoing care and support of specific product ranges; supporting and fostering strong relationships with key opinion leaders and experts in the field; monitoring customer satisfaction; lost-and-won-order-analysis; competitor activities; new customer needs and sales support materials.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a scientific discipline (e.g. biology, molecular biology, microbiology).
  • International work experience is highly valued as is the command of language(s) beyond English.
  • Demonstrate a strong track record of achievement built from market/ customer focused knowledge, marketing concepts and practices.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Track record in managing both complex personal tasks and team work.
  • Strong customer focus with a demonstrated track record of successful customer interactions.
  • Experience in time and project management. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills/ leadership skills. Able to lead and influence others – technical and commercially focused both - tenacious and driven to succeed.
  • Strong technical and business credibility with the organization and customers. Ability to present high-level information to multiple audiences, including scientists, executives, and non-scientists. Excellent presentation, communication and influencing skills.
  • Self motivated having track record in driving to results.
  • Strong collaborator, able to thrive in a matrix organization.
Non-Negotiable Hiring Criteria:
  • Ability to travel up to 20%, domestically and internationally
  • Track record of achievement in sales training, education and collaboration with sales teams.
  • BS degree in microbiology, molecular biology or related biological field.
  • Able to lead and influence others – technical and commercially focused.
