Job Description
Job Title: EHS Officer / Facilities Manager
Reports To: Site Leader
Position Location: Hemel Hempstead, UK

Position Summary:

Pro-actively managing all onsite EHS duties as Environmental, Health & Safety Officer. Responsible for supervising and co-ordinating the Facilities and Services of the Hemel Hempstead site including the Reception and Warehouse function.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • EHS representative for site
  • Chair EHS meetings
  • EHS management, ensuring defined actions are taken to meet legislation, gas safety, fire safety and first aid requirements
  • Represent the facility in UK, European and Global Thermo Fisher EHS matters
  • Produce reports as requested by local management and Global EHS management
  • Maintenance and repair of all plant & equipment within building
  • Refurbishment and office layout change projects
  • Maintenance of all services within the building, including
    • Power, gas and water
    • Heating and air conditioning
    • Piped gas and gas cylinders
  • Security aspects of the building, including
    • CCTV
    • Intruder alarm
    • Access control
    • Call out arrangements
  • Cleaning contractor and sanitary/hygiene services
  • Contractor management (including induction and permit to work system)
  • Photocopiers
  • Management of Receptionists and Warehouse manager (including PMD process)
  • Liaison with landlord’s agents
  • Waste management, including WEEE disposal
  • Ensure relevant training is provided for both in house and field staff using online training programme
  • Provide cover for the warehouse function, during periods of absence, including
    • Raising purchase orders using SAP
  • Any other ad hoc duties or projects as requested by the Site Leader
  • You may be required to perform additional duties or other functions that the Company considers necessary to meet the needs of the business operation from time to time.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications/Skills:
  • Ideally hold a H&S qualification
  • Able to demonstrate significant experience in a similar position of Facilities Management.
  • Knowledge and awareness of Building Regulations (including CDM 2015)
  • Awareness of environmental legislation
  • Knowledge of SAP (advantage but not necessary as training will be given)
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • High degree of self motivation and initiative
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Highly organized with ability to multitask
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills
  • Hands-on problem solving skills
  • High degree of computer literacy
  • Fluency in English language, written and spoken
