Job Description

The Accountant III will facilitate general ledger month-end close including preparation of journal entries in accordance with company policy and GAAP; reconcile inter-company accounts and bank accounts; facilitate monthly reconciliations and analyses of general ledger asset and liability accounts; calculate and track rebates and royalties; prepare state sales and use tax returns as required; prepare accounts receivable detailed aging for review; and work on special projects incorporating research/analysis as requested.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform account analysis and reconciliation of the general ledger accounts and transactions
  • Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare financial statements including monthly and annual accounts
  • Performs accurate and timely monthly close activities, including accrual and other journal entries, intercompany invoicing and reconciliations, bank reconciliations, and other account reconciliations and roll forwards
  • Prepares financial statements and other financial reports to analyze revenues, costs, expenses, transactions, and trends related to financial performance
  • Provides reports to management to support financial reporting activities
  • Performs account analysis and reconciliation of the general ledger accounts and transactions
  • Performs financial audit preparation and interacts with audit teams including the SOX compliance controls
  • Prepares tax returns in multiple jurisdictions, maintaining appropriate supporting documentation. Monitors, researches and supports taxation issues
  • Maintains Fixed Asset register, Depreciation schedules, and CIP
  • Ensure warranty revenue, and amortization schedules are accurate for intangibles and demo equipment
  • Manages all license agreements and royalty revenue and payables
  • Works closely across all of finance and with other business departments
  • Provides coverage (backup) to support other accounting and finance duties when necessary
  • Manages Intercompany balancing and reconciliation each close period
  • Calculates commission calculations as required for the independent business product lines
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
  • 7 years of experience in accounting and/or finance
  • Current experience using SAP and other automated accounting systems (ERP)
  • Intermediate experience using Excel (i.e., pivot tables, formulas, V-lookups)
  • Experienced in various PC software applications (MS Office, Access) to maximize accuracy and productivity
  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated
  • Analytical skills and the ability to handle multiple projects concurrently
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent time-management skills and good practical reasoning skills
  • Commitment to continuous improvement
  • Ability to participate as a team member in the department and the company as a whole
  • Interact positively with all levels of associates
  • Maintain professional demeanor and deliver accurate work products which conform to policies and procedures
  • Ability to multi-task and exercise discretion while handling sensitive information
  • Capacity to act as a self-starter and as a team player with strong follow-up skills
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, percentages, etc.
  • Knowledge of accepted accounting practices and principles (GAAP and IFRS)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Flexibility in scheduling due to business requirements (i.e., month-end close)
  • Organizational skills and ability to work independently with changing priorities

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in public accounting
