Our team of Applications Scientists within the Laboratory Automation business are responsible for configuring automation systems for our customers utilizing the latest Thermo Scientific and partner products. Based on increased demand, we’re looking to add to that team.

What we think is great about the role is that you will engage with customers in conversations in order to understand the science they are trying to automate and their technical automation requirements. It may be synthetic biology one day, high content screening the next and then on to genotyping for crop development! The breadth of science we get to serve is a big part of what motivates us every day.

In addition to working directly with customers, you’ll also act as a liaison between the technical groups in the factory (Integration, Software, Engineering, and R&D) and the sales channels and so good relationship building and communication skills are important.

Attention to detail and good written communication style is what will help you generate end user quotations, system proposal content, throughput analysis modeling, system layouts, and any other accompanying documentation required to satisfy the customer’s requirements.

Another critical aspect will be managing the relationships with our external instrumentation partners. You will need to be able to translate customer requirements into specifications for third party instrumentation and communicate these to our partners. Building successful relationships with the vendors, establishing pricing agreements, and developing and maintaining an up to date knowledge base for 3rd party instrumentation to support the entire team will be a significant part of the role.
