Job Description
Position Summary:

This position leads the production activities in the Thermo China Beijing factory by managing production leaders and professionals who are engaged in the assembly and test of a variety of electro-mechanical products. The position carries an overall responsibility for driving shop floor productivity, quality performance, and continuous improvement, and for control of inventories and product costs in the manufacturing environment. The position also carries responsibility for team motivation and development, and is responsible for insuring that production schedules are achieved in alignment with customer delivery requirements.

  • People Management:
  • Motivates and develops production personnel to insure optimum productivity and a positive team environment. Insures that proper objectives and goals are established and communicated, and that the PMD (Performance Management and Development) -program is properly administered.
  • Insures that all work and support activities are performed in a safe manner, and is responsible for planning and oversight on 5S / 6S activities to achieve work place safety and good housekeeping.
  • Product/ Service Excellence:
  • Fast reflect Customer requirement with cross functional coordination
  • Leads in a manner that ensures solid Quality performance and product integrity. Achieves continuous improvement in Quality and manufacturing efficiency by applying PPI and PPI-Lean methodology, and driving team improvement projects.
  • Insures compliance with Quality Systems and applicable standards such as ISO and regulatory requirements.
  • Carries an overall responsibility for achieving production schedules and insuring alignment to customer delivery requirements. Leads troubleshooting and timely problem resolution activities, as required.
  • Maintains or supervises the maintenance of various records and performance indicators, to include time and attendance, vacation records, KBM metrics, equipment utilization records, and labor efficiency records.
  • Interacts on a cross-functional basis as required to insure proper Engineering involvement and records maintenance, timely and accurate financial reporting, proper inter-face with the Supply Chain organization, proper support of HR policies and practices, and solid communication across the organization.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications: (Bullets)
  • Work experience from western manufacturing company with high-mix-low-volume –production environment, especially with shot lead time.
  • BSc or MSc in related field (Industrial Engineering and Management, Biology, Chemistry, ME, EE, ) which provided thorough knowledge of a variety of electro-mechanical manufacturing activities
  • Good skill on office software and programming skills is preferred.
  • Related training, like Six Sigma, or Lean Manufacturing is preference
  • Experience Required: 5-10 years managerial experience, of which 5 years in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to form and lead teams. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with customers, internal and external
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively across geographic boundaries and with people of different cultures
  • Project management experience
