The Sourcing Account Manager is responsible for managing assigned supplier relationships, for defining sourcing strategy of assigned (sub) commodity with coaching of Commodity Manager, and participates in the early phase of the New Product Introduction cycle.
Within the global sourcing commodity of Manage Sample, this role is dealing amongst others with micro manipulation devices, mechatronics and special sample preparation and probing devices. The role reports into our Manager Commodity> the manage sample commodity team has five colleagues. This complete commodity is responsible for approx. 60 mill.USD

Supplier Account Manager
The role will contain the following key elements:
- Manage and improve existing global supplier relations focused on Quality, Logistics, Cost and Innovation
- Contributes to / defines sourcing strategy for (sub) commodities
- Agrees, deploys and implements the defined commodity strategy with all MSD stakeholders
- Negotiates global contracts & agreements with assigned suppliers on behalf of Thermo Fisher Scientific.
- Prepares and executes annual negotiations on commercial conditions
- Manages escalations regarding delivery, quality and overall performance issue
- Delivers on CoGS reduction initiatives.
- Ensures Supply-Market knowledge (outside in view) for assigned (sub) commodity
- Ensures supply continuity by screening /assessing assigned suppliers
- Runs risk management program with assigned suppliers
- Supports and contributes to global sourcing strategy of Thermo Fisher Scientific Materials and Structural Analysis
- Builds and actively maintains relationships with sourcing colleagues in other Thermo Fisher Scientific Materials and Structural Analysis sites as well as other departments (R&D, Product Engineering), which includes setting-up and leading Supplier Account Teams.
The Sourcing project leader will participate in NPI project teams in early phase to secure that supply chain decisions are in line with the sourcing strategy and assures timely sourcing contribution to new development project milestone gates (including plan to achieve project target costs), the sourcing project leader is responsible to:
- Ensure that the new development project deliverables are met and deviations/risks identified and addressed with commodity manager and/or sourcing director
- Have a supply chain map at the start of the project and updated at every gate, incl. tooling/testing requirements
- Work together with F&A and NPI project leader to have a CoGS monitor in place and updated before every gate (at minimum).
- Ensure with logistics that all materials will be ordered in line with project timeline and – where necessary – ensures risk buys are executed
- Initiate ramp-up planning with supplier
- Contribute to value chain optimization
- Coordinate with buyers across other commodities where needed.
The Requirements
This position requires a person that has a proven track record of being able to work in a complex and fast changing environment, is used to work with large scope and being able to set priorities. Ideally has a background in Sourcing or Supply Chain roles, preferably in a High Tech Systems environment with high diversity and low volumes.
The successful candidate will possess the following combination of education and experience:
- Preferred university degree (Mechanics/Electronics/Business/Industrial Engineering) or a combination of education and experience that demonstrates the required skills.
- Preferably trained in specialized Purchasing skills (NEVI/Purspective)
- Analytical / systematic, practical approach
- Typically requires approximately 10 years of work experience of which at least 5 years in the field of purchasing and with innovation (NPI) process
- Good communication skills (reporting, interpersonal)
- Excellent English language skills (verbal and in writing)
- MS Office skills
- Ability to handle stress
- Is self-propelling
- Willing to travel (25%) between the MSD sites and supplier locations worldwide.
