Scientist I, Manufacturing Sciences

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and prioritize daily tasks or assignments given by Supervisor
  • Perform daily protein purification following PSWIs
  • Manage, prepare and maintain required buffers and reagents
  • Maintain laboratory work area, equipment and corresponding logs
  • Fulfill antigen order as requested
  • Record antigen production information and maintain necessary paperwork
  • Ensure that all laboratory protocols and procedures are properly and safely followed for the safety of all employees and to maintain the quality of all the products involved
  • Notify immediate supervisors of any unsafe conditions and/or practices and take appropriate corrective action

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in biology or chemical science or related field
  • General lab knowledge and/or experience
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality of all business, scientific information and data
  • General awareness of laboratory procedure, biochemistry and quantitative chemistry
  • Able to perform and follow technical laboratory protocols
  • Able to interact daily with the laboratory staff, including project leaders and general laboratory staff members, in coordinating daily activities
  • Able to plan and organize work in a reliable and consistent manner
  • Able to systematically follow instructions and perform laboratory bench work with minimal supervision
  • Able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with both supervisor and co-workers
  • Able to work as a cooperative member of the Antigen Production Group
  • Basic knowledge of Word and Excel
  • Must ensure that safe laboratory procedures and protocols are followed at all times
  • Experienced with GMP and GDP in a production environment

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
  • Able to sit for long periods of time at a laboratory bench
  • Able to stand and work in a cold room for extended periods of time
  • Able to lift 35 to 50 pounds
  • Able to enter data and documentation into computer in a timely fashion


This position has not been budgeted for relocation benefits at this time.
