Job Description
Thermo Fisher is looking for a results-oriented Senior Financial Analyst to support a $500M+ Commercial Region. This person will have responsibility for forecasting and analysis of sales supporting the commercial organization. They will be responsible for partnering with the commercial and business unit leaders to ensure forecasts accurately represent business conditions. They will be providing visibility via timely and accurate reporting of financial performance on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. They will be providing reporting and analytics to the Commercial Vice President to help drive short and long term business decisions. The ideal candidate has strong analytical and technical abilities with the ability to communicate complex topics in a summary fashion to drive actionable solutions.

  • Budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Publish daily, weekly, and monthly sales reporting across product lines and sales regions
  • Support the Commercial Vice President with growth initiatives
  • Establish growth targets by country and product line including participation in the five year planning process
  • Develop annual sales quotas for 300+ sales force
  • Establish metrics; highlights trends / gaps and facilitate actions to address
  • Support commission reporting for the America’s region
  • Partner with Commercial Leaders, Human Resources, and Payroll
  • Review commission payments for 300+ sales force
  • Commission expense forecasting and variance reporting
  • Commission modeling for new compensation designs
  • Analyze and interpret financial results and forecasts, providing key business and financial guidance to the organization via an executive summary
  • Ad-hoc financial analysis, analytical modeling, and consolidation reporting via the use of multiple financial systems
  • Generate and standardize detailed financial reporting of orders, revenue, direct material, warranty and installation, overhead and SG&A expense
  • Support monthly and quarterly business review presentations; provide insight and support to the business units
  • Support monthly, quarterly and annual close activities
  • Collaborate with the finance team to identify issues, resolve problems and speed up processes
  • Analyze financial information to recommend or develop efficient use of resources and procedures, provide strategic recommendations and maintain solutions to business and financial problems
  • Be a strong business partner to the Finance Director and the Commercial Finance Vice President

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
  • 8+ years of experience in forecasting, planning, financial analysis, and reporting
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field required
  • MBA preferred
  • Experience with ERP systems (preferably SAP), data warehousing tools (preferably Business Warehouse), Hyperion or CMR
  • Experience in a large, multi-currency, international operating company
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to efficiently analyze large amounts of data, develop financial models, and prepare and present recommendations to peers and management
  • Strong analytical abilities, intellectual curiosity
  • Ability to comfortably interact with all levels of management
  • Innovative and creative thinking and problem solving
  • Ability to be adaptive and thrive in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Advanced use of Microsoft Excel & Microsoft Access
  • Proficient use of MS Office software (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Willingness and ability to travel 10-15%
Non-Negotiable Hiring Criteria:
  • 8+ years of experience as a financial or business analyst
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field
  • Strong analytical abilities, intellectual curiosity
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage change in a matrix organization
  • Advanced Excel skills
