Portable Analytical Instruments, a business unit of Thermo Fisher Scientific, is the leader in handheld XRF, Raman, and Infrared devices that enable precise material identification and characterization across a wide variety of end markets. It is the product of three acquisitions over the past decade and brings together a product portfolio with leading market positions globally.

The Buyer Planner works on a wide range of tactical elements associated to the value stream, including day to day execution of kanban cards, placing purchase orders, working with suppliers to ensure commitments are made to support production.
  • Work closely with the materials, planning and production teams to ensure the required material is in place to support the build plan.
  • Daily tracking of Kanban schedule and follow up with suppliers as required making sure the acknowledged day of arrival as shown on the kanban board is achieved.
  • Following up on all late kanban parts within 24 hrs of missed date.
  • Review MRP weekly including; scheduled receipts, new PO’s and exception messages to support the production schedule.
  • Work with the Commodity leads on inventory control initiatives (i.e. implementation of kanban and VOMI)
  • Process non-conforming material.
  • Liaise with Commodity leads to manage ECO implementation (phase in)
  • Support department with organization of procedures, records and reports.
  • Other duties as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 3 years of purchasing/planning experience.
  • ISM/APICS certification preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years experience working in a manufacturing environment, working closely with sourcing, planning, production, quality and logistics groups.
  • An awareness of import/export regulations as it relates to material being imported and exported.
  • Hands on experience with ERP systems. Microsoft Office skills, specifically: Excel, Word and Outlook.
