We are currently looking for an IT Business Engagement Manager to become a member of our Group Applications Team. This position will require the ability to collaborate with our Global Process Owners to provide application support for our business applications and business engagement for a number of business functions including Financials, Quality, and Audit. The IT Business Engagement Manager must possess good interpersonal skills as he/ she will be the primary interface with the Business teams to understand requirements, resolve functional issues and define and implement complex end-to-end solutions. This individual will also be responsible for managing, developing, leading, and motivating a high performance IT business analyst team. A self-starter with the ability to influence the end-user and IT community
Key aspects of the role:
Application Support:
  • Initial point of contact for the functional business unit for system requests, problem escalation and problem resolution
  • Liaise with Applications and Infrastructure delivery teams to determine costs and resources for initial system deployment and ongoing total cost of ownership
  • Develop requirements for solutions that are aligned with business goals
  • Responsible for the functional specification, technical design, implementation and support for our global ERP system (SAP).
  • Research and brief on current & emerging industry trends and IT solutions/technologies that are applicable to Thermo Fisher
  • Contribute to ongoing IT technology road map and applications architecture/standards definition
  • Liaise with the wider IT teams in North America and EMEA to ensure consistent understanding of the IT project roadmap, and the pipeline management process.
Business Engagement
  • Develop strategic partnerships with Business Process Owners and business management.
  • As the IT Business subject matter expert, pro-actively identify opportunities to enhance the use of existing systems and technologies within Thermo Fisher.
  • Develop strong working relationships at levels in the business and IT community to ensure overall project portfolio satisfaction. Represent Thermo Fisher IT at business unit staff meetings & off site planning meetings to communicate details of the IT project roadmap and other IT infrastructure initiatives and IT application initiatives
  • Ensure that business system requests and priorities are regularly reviewed and reflected in the IT roadmap; and ensure alignment of these requests across the functional business units from an IT perspective; with a specific emphasis on ensuring global consistency and alignment
People Management:
  • Identify developmental needs of staff members, provide developmental opportunities and coach for success
  • 5+ years of people management experience
  • Manage a team of 5-10 individuals
Project Management:
  • Manage multiple system development projects of various size and complexity
  • Allocate resources for project management, support, and maintenance
  • Address and escalate issues promptly and properly. Escalate anticipated risk to management.
Key Requirements:
  • MS degree with Business or CS focus or equivalent experience.
  • Must have at least 12+ years of development and configuration management experience with SAP ERP ECC 6 and QMS systems.
  • International experience strongly desired
  • Familiarity with ITIL best practices and Sarbanes-Oxley in addition to regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to work, in a team, to define effective technical solutions to business requirements and collaborate with business partners in defining future innovations.
  • Ability to develop aggressive, but realistic, schedules and communicate/drive them effectively throughout the organization.
  • Strong functional knowledge with hands-on experience managing systems analysis and configuration of the SAP (AP, AR, GL & FA), costing, Quality, Audit, and master data management.
  • History of developing efficient and effective solutions to diverse and complex business problems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members, peers, and senior management.
  • Planning and analytical skills, as well as, the ability to communicate ideas and plans verbally and in writing.
  • Strong analytical, planning, project management and communications skills are a necessity
  • Must have a solid background in Systems Development Lifecycle.
