Job Description
The HR Generalist II, reporting to the Senior HR Manager, will partner with the business by contributing to the attainment of operational objectives. They support and contribute to HR practices that provide a team-oriented, high performance culture that emphasizes empowerment, quality, goal attainment, and the recruitment and ongoing development of a superior workforce. The successful candidate must be familiar with and comfortable working within a manufacturing environment.

This position plays a key role in providing core, common and consistent HR solutions to the employee population with focus on certain functions within the organization. This position is responsible for managing day-to-day Human Resource functions including: recruiting and selection, HR compliance, on-boarding, employee relations, training and development, compensation and performance management.

Responsibilities:
  • Coordinating staffing (temporary & regular) & onboarding activities for Asheville based positions.
  • Recruit for critical temporary positions within the organization to support ongoing hiring demand.
  • Provides HR solutions support, process knowledge advice and consultation to employees.
  • Assisting managers and employees with understanding and applying Human Resources policies, processes and procedures to improve organizational performance.
  • Support strategic initiatives to build organizational capability by attracting, developing and retaining top talent for professional, production and support level positions.
  • Execute HR projects as directed by HR leadership by assisting with the development, deployment, and maintenance of Human Resource/Corporate programs and initiatives.
  • Assisting with the administration of Benefits and Compensation programs including disability claims management, salary surveys, etc.
  • Leverages resources appropriately and ensures work is delivered in a consistent way through common processes
  • Coach management team on leadership and HR issues including application of HR policies and processes, restructuring, complex employee issues. May coach on people management, career development and personal leadership (limited to critical roles).
  • Supports change management related to the implementation of organizational effectiveness solutions.
  • Provides tools, advice, and information to support effective delivery of HR services and processes.
  • Facilitates client compliance with HR policy and coaches clients on Thermo Fisher Scientific values and behaviors as required.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications
  • BA/BS in Business Management, Human Resources, or a related field (or equivalent combination of experience & education)
  • 1+ year of direct experience in all aspects of human resources
  • Working knowledge of Employment Law (PHR or SPHR Certification preferred)
  • Experience in a variety of work settings including manufacturing
  • An individual who is highly proactive, analytical and has the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills to interface with all levels of the organization including employee relations, coaching, etc
  • Must possess moderate computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets, and email
