Job Purpose
The Forwarding Specialist organizes and handles a variety of transportation and export activities from the manufacturing environment of FEI and is primarily responsible for transportation planning and execution of orders fulfilled from Operations Eindhoven, in accordance with FEI Supply Chain Security (SCS) Policy.

Duties and responsibilities
  • Monitors confirmed orders together with Operations stakeholders (Order Desk, Planning, Manufacturing, Warehouse, Product Engineering), defines shipping requirements and prepares shipments;
  • Investigates and selects best transportation solution and Logistic Service Provider (LSP) at lowest integral Logistics cost
  • Organizes and coordinates dangerous goods shipments
  • Quarterly forecasting to FEI preferred Logistic Service Providers
  • Fine-tunes shipment preparation planning with Operations stakeholders (Order Desk, Planning, Manufacturing, Warehouse, Product Engineering) in order to ensure timely pick-ups
  • Communicates with FEI internal customers (FEI Sales and Service Division) in coordinating deliveries to customer sites
  • Works with Logistic Service Providers on optimal planning and execution of shipments per Inco terms and delivery deadline requirements dictated by agreements with customers and FEI revenue recognition requirements
  • Obtains, checks and prepares documentation to meet customs requirements and compliance with own and other countries' regulations and fiscal regimes
  • Coordination with FEI Compliance Team, Customs authorities, Logistic Service Providers and other parties involved in (mainly) export transactions to ensure full trade compliance in executing shipments
  • Maintains current knowledge of relevant legislation and other factors that could affect the planned transportation solution
  • Coordinates Logistics related activities for other departments within FEI (R&D, Applications - for trade shows and demos worldwide etc)
  • Responsible for freight audit and input for correct Freight/Duty out cost allocation by Finance Dept.

Logistics Improvement activities:
  • Ownership for generating and maintaining shipping related KPIs
  • Ownership for creating and maintaining work instructions and shipping relevant processes
  • Participate in Logistics Improvement projects as required

The successful candidate will possess the following combination of education and experience:

  • Higher secondary education is required, or a combination of education and experience that demonstrate the required skills;
  • 6-8 years’ experience in a similar position in fast paced and highly flexible business-to-business environment
  • Working knowledge and understanding of order fulfillment processes
  • In-depth knowledge of Incoterms and export procedures
  • Must be able to work independently, set priorities, and make decisions within defined procedures, but under minimal supervision
  • Experience with / knowledge of ERP/MRP systems (MFGPRO, SAP);
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Outlook / Excel / Word
  • Fluent in Dutch and English (verbal and written)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a helpful, courteous and strong solution oriented attitude
  • Structured and accurate: good at managing time and eye for detail; accuracy reliable follow up and follow through is critical in conducting export business;
  • Must be willing to allow changes in scheduled working hours to compensate for Q end workload demands
  • Able to cope with stress, eager to learn and able to handle criticism
