Job Description

The EHSQ Systems and Compliance Coordinator role reports to and receives direction from the EHS Leader, ANZ. In this role you will consult internally on the implementation of the EHSQ policy direction both locally and across Australia. The role will involve involvement with complex problems which will require excellent interpersonal and communication skills, initiative and determination. The position requires flexibility, reliability and the ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve the EHSQ objectives of the organisation.


  • Support the organisation to achieve the EHSQ Vision and embed the Thermo Fisher Scientific EHSQ values
  • Ensure the organisation exceeds compliance with relevant Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) and Quality legislative requirements and maintain compliance
  • Deliver continuous improvement and best practice in EHSQ
  • Drive improvements to the EHSQ culture by partnering with personnel to improve EHS and mitigate risks across the organisation
  • Provide hands on implementation support of the EHS and Quality Management System to senior managers, employees and EHS Committees
  • Ensure that all ISO and AS/NZS certifications are maintained
  • Perform internal EHSQ audits according to audit schedules and assess the appropriateness of remedial actions proposed and implemented
  • Implement and maintain the existing integrated management system and procedures
  • Lead improvements to the EHSQ culture by partnering with personnel to embed and improve EHS in day to day activities
  • Assist the organisation in meeting the requirements of the EHSQ legislative requirements
  • Assist in coordinating the compliance registration and licensing requirements across Australia and New Zealand
  • Assist with the development and training of new procedures across the business
  • Contribute to the cycle of continuous improvement in all areas of EHSQ
  • Support the EHS Leader, ANZ in the management of EHS data including Hazard and Corrective Action Registers, Risk Registers and EHS statistics
  • Support the RA/QA Manager, ANZ in the management of the existing Quality Management System

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

Qualifications & Experience

  • A Diploma in Quality Auditing - Essential
  • A minimum of 2-5 years working in a compliance role
  • Knowledge/understanding of standards, regulations and quality systems
  • Audit qualifications (RABQSA) or working towards

  • Proven ability to balance competing priorities and meet deadlines
  • Proven experience working independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to implement and maintain auditable EHS and Quality Management Systems

  • Initiative and determination
  • A knowledge of all state and New Zealand EHS and Quality legislation
  • Proven experience in ensuring Dangerous Goods compliance
  • Understanding and experience in auditing EHS and Quality Management Systems and their implementation against Australian and International Standards
  • Sound understanding of risk management principles and methodology

Other Important Information

The successful candidate will be required to:

  • Hold a current driver’s license
  • Travel both interstate and locally
