Key responsibilities include:
- Hands-on injection molding process and tooling troubleshooting.
- Process optimization following scientific molding principles following good documentation practice.
- Define and perform validations using IQ/OQ/PQ methodologies for equipment, tooling, and processes.
- Recommend, evaluate, and validate new materials in support of cost savings, alternates, and new product development.
- Coordinate tooling repairs, modifications, refurbishment, and procurement.
- Specify, procure, and implement new equipment.
- Leadership to drive implementation of new technologies and advanced methodologies.
- Leadership on continuous improvement/cost savings projects.
- Establish manufacturing procedures and quality plans.
- Project management from concept to production including detailed planning using established project management tools, maintaining complete and accurate records of activities, and maintain within established schedule and budget.
- Conduct meetings, document meeting minutes, and prepare technical and status reports as required for internal distribution and external communication.
- Provide leadership and training to Molding personnel.
- Provide plastics engineering expertise, in general, for Operations.Other activities and duties, as assigned.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
- BS degree in Engineering discipline, preferably in Plastics.
- 5 years of practical experience in manufacturing environment, and 3 years with injection molding.
- Hands-on experience with setup, operation, and troubleshooting/optimization of injection molding machines and processes.
- Thorough understanding or injection molding principles with good understanding of other plastic processes.
- Experience with scientific molding principles, and injection molding process optimization.
- Good understanding of plastic part design, and the design and construction of injection molds.
- Good understanding and experience with validations using IQ/OQ/PQ methodologies.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prepare and write reports and correspondence.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects, and work effectively with other departments.
- Strong computer skills (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and statistical software).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact and communicate with individuals in other departments at all levels of the organization.
- Occasional (~10%) travel including Tijuana facility.
Preferred Hiring Criteria:
- 3 years of practical experience with injection molding.

- Experience with scientific molding principles, and injection molding process optimization.
