GLOBAL SERVICE ENGINEER

UPPSALA, SWEDEN

This position is based in our ImmunoDiagnostics Division (IDD), which has its global HQ in Uppsala, Sweden. IDD develops, manufactures and markets complete blood test systems to support the clinical diagnosis and monitoring of allergy, asthma and autoimmune diseases. With 1,500 employees worldwide, IDD is the global leader in in-vitro allergy testing and also the European leader in autoimmunity diagnostics. The allergy and autoimmunity product lines operate on a common instrument platform, Phadia Laboratory Systems, which supports both productivity and cost effectiveness in clinical laboratories around the world.

THE ROLE

As a Global Service Engineer you will be joining a team of seven and report in to our Head of Global Technical Service, based in Uppsala. You will play a key role in supporting Field Service Engineers, either in our own regional field organizations or in our local distributors, to deliver world class Technical Service to IDD customers, thereby creating customer satisfaction and increasing laboratory productivity.

You will be based in our Center of Excellence in Uppsala, but have a global responsibility, therefore we are looking for candidates who will enjoy the international aspect and who can travel regularly.
In this role you will work internationally and cross-functionally within the company, the work will be very varied and will include:
  • Developing and maintaining, from a technical standpoint, IDD Technical Service documentation, such as service manuals, service bulletins, IQ/OQ documents, checklists and troubleshooting guides.
  • Supporting the creation of a Technical Service Training program and developing the Global Training Center in Uppsala into a true Center of Excellence
  • Providing second-line support remotely to field service engineers and occasionally on customer site for more complex installations and repairs at Key Accounts worldwide.
  • Supporting launch projects, product development and product care activities by driving the understanding of “design for serviceability”
  • Driving the implementation of Technical Service SOPs on a global and regional basis
  • Promoting efficient Spare Parts Management activities
  • Providing guidance on how to measure relevant service statistics and instrument metrics
  • Proactively drive collaboration activities to secure a best practices approach with the service organizations within IDD and other Thermo Fisher divisions

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

The ideal candidate will have a technical or scientific degree and will have worked as a Field Service Engineer or a supporting function for about ten years, preferably including several years of experience from the IVD industry.

To succeed in this role you should:
  • Be an open-minded peoples’ person with genuine technical interest and with an understanding of working internationally and cross-functionally.
  • Be driven, focused and have lots of perseverance, since you will be working in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
  • Work with the customer in focus and prioritize customer satisfaction.
  • Be interested in continuously developing yourself and learn about IT, software, electronic engineering, mechanics and biochemistry.
  • Speak and write English fluently and ideally speak Swedish too.
  • It would advantageous if you have experience of:
  • IT Service tools, for example Remote Diagnostics
  • Service Management Solutions, preferably ServiceMax or Cloud 4 Service
  • Validation of instruments, IQ/OQ and similar
  • Laboratory Automation Systems, LAS
