Job Description

Essential Job Functions:

  • Lead the process to identify the strategic business issues for the organization.
  • Complete Knowledge Inventory to identify learning gaps and insight generation plan.
  • Develop identify, and use appropriate/new research methodologies to lead insight generation, directly or through supervision of external suppliers, to inform product portfolio strategy, including customer and patient dynamics, competition, market segmentation, clinical and health economic evidence generation, pricing, positioning, promotion, forecasting, and sales strategy to successfully commercialize new products, enter new markets, and achieve growth and profitability goals by product and market segments in partnership with Global Marketing, Commercial Organizations, and R&D.
  • Provide insight to inform and provide leadership in development of strategic plan process.
  • Support forecasts and business decisions with objective data, including conducting market, customer and competitive research, performing financial analysis and assimilating internal expertise/experience.
  • Develop leading data indicators (KPIs) of future business performance.
  • Inform the organization about developments in the scientific field and the market as they impact and apply to the organization's strategic roadmap.
  • Lead the process to identify the strategic evidence generation opportunities to support the Strategic Roadmap of the organization.
  • Lead the process to approve evidence generation activities globally.
  • Provide insight to inform and provide leadership in annual review/revision of the Strategic Roadmap.
  • Support Portfolio Strategy development decisions with objective data, including providing regular updates to leadership and the broader organization of current, pertinent clinical and health economic studies, as well as relevant KOL activity.
  • Represent the global division and its interests with key clinical and economic (payor/public policy) stakeholders, as well as customers, and their associations.
  • Identify, engage, and influence key opinion leaders or key public health policy stakeholders to advance the business interests of the division.
  • Mentor local commercial organizations in their development of evidence generation capabilities, including KOL/NOL development.

Education Qualifications:

  • A min of a BS degree in a scientific discipline is preferred with experience in Market Research or MBA strongly preferred
  • Master's degree or PhD in Health Economics or a PhD and clinical experience in a relevant field is strongly preferred.

Experience Qualifications:

  • Life science, diagnostics, medical device, pharmaceutical, or other health care experience is highly desirable.
  • In-depth knowledge of the broad range of commonly used research techniques is required.
  • Strong analytical and qualitative skills are required, as well as the ability to interpret and integrate research data, draw conclusions/implications, and translate into business decision recommendations.
  • Use of statistical, multivariate and modeling analyses, in-depth knowledge of research techniques used to assess concept/product/program, identify targets, and monitor business performance are all required.
  • Experience working with secondary data and performing analytics to develop leading indicators about the health of the business is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently, to take initiative, be resourceful, and exercise astute business judgment to drive performance.
  • A minimum of 5 years Evidence Generation experience is required with significant exposure to both clinical and health economic evidence generation.
  • A minimum of 5 years of people leadership/development experience is required.
  • Life science, diagnostics, medical device, pharmaceutical, or other health care experience is required.
  • In-depth knowledge of the broad range of the global landscape for reimbursement systems and guidelines, as well as commonly used research health clinical and economic study designs and policy work to influence them is required.
  • Strong analytical and qualitative skills are required, as well as the ability to interpret and integrate study results, draw conclusions/implications, and translate into business decision recommendations.
  • Work with investigator-initiated studies and company-initiated studies, as well as selection of and partnership with clinical research organization with in-depth knowledge of study design and performance monitoring, are all required.
  • Experience in negotiating directly with payor organizations (NHS, NICE, ACOs, etc.) is beneficial.
  • Experience finding relevant secondary data and performing analytics to develop leading indicators for evidence generation hypotheses/conclusions is strongly preferred.
  • Experience implementing six-sigma and/or other process/project-management techniques are strongly preferred and strong project management skills required.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently, to take initiative, be resourceful, and exercise astute business judgment to drive performance.
  • Demonstrated success in collaborating cross-functionally in a matrix environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize clinical and health economic data and influence strategy development.
  • Ability to lead and influence change is required.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written presentation skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of MS Office applications is required.
  • International experience is required, as well as demonstrated cultural awareness.

  • This position requires significant international travel – up to 35%, as required..
