Job Description:
This position falls within Chemistry R&D, part of the CSD organization of Thermo fisher Scientific, located at South San Francisco. The selected individual will be part of a high performance, cross-disciplinary team at the cutting edge of sequencing technology.
Key responsibilities:
- Perform bioconjugations on hydrogel particles
- Write scripts and develop workflows on automated liquid handling platforms
- Assist in the development of new analytical methods and assays as needed
- Analyze data, derive conclusions, document findings, write SOPs and prepare reports for sharing within and between R&D groups
- Support EHS duties, hazardous waste management and lab organization
- Maintain a detailed and organized lab notebook
- BS or MS in chemistry, chemical engineering, bioengineering or equivalent
- Minimum 2-3 years of hands-on experience in a lab setting. Experience working with lab automation platforms is desirable
- Working knowledge of bioconjugation & particle science
- Proficiency in basic programming (Matlab, JMP, etc.) and scripting
- Proficiency in fluorescence microscopy & other imaging methods
- Moderate to intensive pipetting and long continuous periods in the lab doing experiments
