The Director, Distribution Engineering, reporting to the Senior Vice President, Global Supply Chain, will provide engineering support across a network of fifteen (15) North American distribution centers and various international locations while engaging with a variety of cross-functional areas within the supply chain. This position will leverage Centers of Excellence within the Customer Channels Group (CCG) to provide support across the global network. The position will also play an integral role in the evolving conceptual design of our distribution centers, in the evolution of the Global Supply Chain Network and with the operations strategic planning process. The global supply chain operates within a broad, distributed network, supporting 5,000+ suppliers, 200,000+ products and 350,000+ customers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Various distribution center aspects include dangerous goods, cold chain, lot control, date control and pick & pack.
  • Facility operational optimization and innovation that impact cost, quality and service.
  • Network modeling and facility construction / retrofit leadership.
  • Distribution Systems Support (hardware and software).
  • Data Analytics and Modeling.
  • Internal / External benchmarking.
Required Qualifications:
  • 15+ years of industrial engineering experience in progressively senior positions.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering or related field.
  • Progressive responsibilities in engineering and operations within a distribution environment.
  • Clear understanding and experience in all facets of distribution center automation, MHE, software (WMS, CCS, etc), building design, etc. coupled with an intimate knowledge of the supplier base.
  • Solid negotiating and contracting skills; includes sound understanding of market costs.
  • Strong analytical, financial and P&L skills required to succeed.
  • In-depth knowledge of key distribution operations processes and current best practices.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% travel (domestic and international).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • MBA or Master’s Degree in Supply Chain Management or related.
  • Ability to quickly establish credibility across organization and to engage and influence others to ensure the most effective and efficient solutions for the varied business units.
  • Ability to drive process improvement, operational excellence and best practices across a global distribution network.
  • PMP (Project Management Professional), CPSM (Certified Supply Chain Management), CPIM (Certified in Production and Inventory Management) or CSCP (Certified Supply Chain Professional).
  • Demonstrated ability for developing and executing project plans across a variety of initiatives supporting multiple facilities (including building construction and permitting).
  • Ability to quickly establish credibility across the organization and to engage and influence others to ensure the most effective and efficient solutions for the varied facilities across a global network.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and maintain strong business relationships.
  • Strong business acumen accompanied by interpersonal savvy.
  • Superior communication, presentation and analytical skills.
  • Strong goal/action orientation.
  • Ability to develop and lead multi-facility projects.
  • International experience.
