Global Trade Compliance Specialist (m/w)
Location: Hennigsdorf bei Berlin

In this position you will be responsible for ensuring all import and export transactions are compiled within applicable government rules and regulations. The Specialist will support the Global Trade Compliance Director by helping to develop and maintain the import and export compliance programs. This includes, without limitation, adherence to applicable US, European and ROW laws and regulations pertaining to international trade as well as ensuring compliance with Thermo Fisher Scientific corporate policies.

Responsibilities:

· Assist in developing, implementing and maintaining programs, policies, procedures and controls to ensure site-wide compliance in accordance with guidelines of CBP (Custom and Border Patrol) and other relevant agencies.
· Ensure day-to-day monitoring of all exports and imports compliance task.
· Conduct post entry audits of all import and export files.
· Audit import entry filings; resolve discrepancies, request appropriate corrections, reconcile or protest as appropriate; verify valuation methodology.
· Manage import/export recordkeeping process in compliance with guidelines set forth by CBP and other relevant agencies.
· Ensure proper classification, valuation, and origin determination of imported/export of goods.
· Partner with cross-functional teams, including Legal, Logistics, Supply Chain, Sales, IT, and Engineering to develop and execute defined procedures.
· Develop and enforce site SOPs based on Thermo Fisher best practices and Corporate GTC management.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree preferred with minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in import and/or export roles.
· Working knowledge of US Customs Harmonized Tariff Schedule, US / EU Government Agency Import/Export regulations (i.e. CBP, Census, BIS, EAR, OFAC, ITAR).
· Strong communication skills.
· Ability to work within teams and independently with minimal supervision.
· Detail oriented with the ability to multitask and to prioritize.
· Strong analytical skills with the ability to quickly update data and draw appropriate conclusions.
· Proficiency in English is a Must. Native level German speaking is required.
