Job Description
Position Summary:
The Global Mobility Specialist will provide support of the company relocation and International Assignment policies, including strategy, legal issues/requirements, and vendor management. This person will work as part of a team to develop the strategies associated with all permanent relocations and International Assignments, globally.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Recommend overall global mobility policies and programs for the organization, as well as specific enhancements to our policies, programs and practices that complement our efforts to develop and retain top talent.
  • Responsible for supporting all permanent relocations and international assignment activities as they relate to external vendor management, financial reporting, and policy.
  • Serve as an internal consultant to the businesses with regards to all permanent relocation and international assignment services and policy interpretations.
  • Works closely with others in HR, Finance and across other functions action as an internal consultant to ensure policies, processes and programs met the needs of the Company and the employees.
  • Anticipates needs for changes due to modification in procedures or new Company directions ensuring that changes are well-communicated and understood.
  • Able to provide consultation to managers and employees as needed to facilitate their understanding of processes and influencing decisions.
  • Help develop and establish internal policies/procedures that effectively govern Thermo Fisher’s relocation/expatriation programs that balance employee relations concerns, financial issues, business concerns and governmental regulations.
  • Negotiates relocation benefits programs and other assistance with vendors as needed.
  • Other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Sr. Manager, Retirement & Executive Benefits.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Bachelor/Masters Degree preferred with 3-5 years experience with global relocation/assignments, global benefits and other global mobility programs and issues.
  • Experience in a multi-national company.
  • Experience working with complex, multi-tier relocation or other benefit programs.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills (written and oral).
  • Experience with service vendor management including contract negotiations and performance delivery.
  • Strong analytical skills to help ensure the appropriate compensation and financial results – both for the employee and the Company.
  • Requires the ability to operate and multi-task in a fast-paced, complex, multi-business environment with different issues/concerns.
  • Ability and willingness to help the Benefits Center of Excellence with responsibilities outside of the Global Mobility Function in a time of critical need.
