Careers at ThermoFisher Scientific

My work is a Story of Potential

My Operations & Supply Chain Story

“I am the site leader at our Distribution Center in Suwanee, Georgia. I oversee a group of 60 employees. Together, along with the sales force and customer service representatives, we make sure that customers’ orders are shipped correctly and on time. Our distribution center ships over 2,500 orders each day to customers in the southeast region of the United States. We supply large national labs like Quest Diagnostics and LabCorp, government agencies like the Center for Disease Control, and hospitals and universities. We distribute a wide variety of products ranging from Fisher Scientific chemicals to gloves to refrigerated media to thousands of other items.”

Craig's Story

“I am responsible for leading cross-functional and multidisciplinary improvement projects for Thermo Fisher Scientific around the globe. I collaborate with many sectors of the business and learn something new every day. My primary focus is to identify energy efficiency projects at different Thermo Fisher work sites to reduce energy usage and waste. Some of my projects include optimizing the amount of dry ice in our cold chain shipments, implementing energy efficiency upgrades at various sites, and guiding sites to limit their waste output. For every package we ship with less waste, the company saves money, the customers receive and throw away less waste, and our shareholders benefit. By improving the way we conduct our own operations, we are ‘walking the walk.”

Carla's Story

These inquires include checking the status of customer orders, helping to process same-day deliveries, as well as meeting special customer request orders. I must attend to each request within the allocated timeframe to ensure the Customer Care team can respond to any inquiries from the customer before items ship. I am also responsible for following up on customer orders, conducting stock checks to investigate customer complaints and ensuring that all customer orders are dispatched on time. I check and inspect orders to guarantee they reflect the accurate quantity ordered and meet quality requirements. My goal for each day is to ensure that all queries have been completed or attended to.”

Jonie's Story

My role is to help the operations run smoothly by providing my colleagues with all of the things they need to support the manufacturing process, helping them operate efficiently and ensuring that we deliver our products on time to our customers. I provide basic warehouse duties such as sorting and unpacking incoming deliveries, booking goods to stock, transporting semi-finished products to the production area and monitoring stock quantities. I also drive the forklift and support the purchasing, dispatching and production departments.”

Jaakko's Story

“I am responsible for managing any activity that takes place within our cold chain, a temperature controlled supply chain, to ensure that we meet all statutory, regulatory and company requirements. I conduct warehouse and distribution capacity planning and ensure goods are booked in within the three-day service level agreement. The cold chain facility maintains a 2 - 8 degree Celsius environment for clinical trials materials, such as a vaccine for advanced melanoma, a biopharmaceutical that treats autoimmune diseases and ingredients used to make injections to treat multiple sclerosis. This cold environment helps extend and ensure the products’ shelf-life and maintains their quality, safety and efficacy. My other responsibilities include identifying, resolving and reporting potential health, safety and quality risks, near misses and accidents, conducing health and safety investigations, managing stock levels, as well as supporting and coaching my team.”

Every day I work with employees to identify problems and then find a solution. I challenge our teams to be creative and develop innovative solutions so we can achieve our targets and goals.”
