In this position you will be part of Thermo Fisher Scientific’s ImmunoDiagnostics Division (IDD), which develops, manufactures, and markets blood test systems to support the clinical diagnosis and monitoring of allergy, asthma and autoimmune diseases. With 1,500 employees worldwide, IDD is the global leader in in vitro allergy testing and also the European leader in autoimmunity diagnostics.

Thermo Fisher IDD is looking for a Social Media Platform Manager who can provide the leadership needed to continue developing our aggressive digital strategies. The Social Media Platform Manager is responsible for the strategy, planning and execution of a global social media Platform. He/She will design and build, from the ground up, a social media platform that ensures fresh, relevant content and campaigns across social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and LinkedIn. He/she will monitor our global social teams to ensure compliance as well and enable those teams with first in class content, templates, and well-designed campaigns.


  • Expertise in Hootsuite, specifically deploying social media management software throughout the enterprise (globally)
  • Ability to manage large numbers of initiatives and competing priorities
  • Sound business judgment, proven ability to influence others, and strong analytical thinking skills as well as a proven track record of taking ownership and driving results
  • Lead a matrixed global team, ensure compliance and demand quality
  • Develop, execute, and enable customer acquisition and retention campaigns
  • Coordinate with web, email, and other channel teams to launch acquisition and education campaigns, monitor campaigns for results and ROI
  • Maintain key agency relationships.
  • Contribute to strategic and tactical marketing planning
  • Adhere to and enforce content approval and branding guidelines for web content.
  • Run fast and innovate

  • Substantial social marketing experience with demonstrated success that includes development and implementation of commercial strategies and tactics is required.
  • Sales, strategic marketing, and/or market research experience is preferred.
  • Life science, diagnostics, medical device, pharmaceutical, or other health care experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in successfully leading, building, and implementing social marketing platforms that enable distributed teams to educate and acquire new customers that drive increased revenues
  • Strong analytical and qualitative skills as well as the ability to synthesize and integrate customer insights data, draw conclusions/implications, and translate into comprehensive strategies and business decision recommendations.
  • Demonstrated experience in segmentation, persona targeting, and positioning.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently, to take initiative, be resourceful, and exercise astute business judgment to drive performance.
  • Demonstrated success in collaborating cross-functionally in a matrix environment.
  • Ability to lead and influence change is required.
  • Agency management and digital strategy experience strongly preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of Hootsuite, Hootsuite Platform Certification/Hootsuite Social Marketing Certification preferred.
  • International experience is required, as well as demonstrated cultural awareness.
  • This position requires international travel – up to 25%, as required.

  • Must have excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written presentation skills in English
  • You should have a passion for technology and working in the life-science sector.

This position has not been approved for relocation. The person in this role may be based remotely in Chicago, Detroit, New York, or any major metropolitan area (East Coast preferred).
