Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the delivery of assigned enterprise programs on time, within budget and in adherence to quality goals
  • Work with project sponsors and leaders to define the program’s objectives and business case, build and manage plans, and oversee quality and timely delivery throughout the entire program
  • Define program scope and deliverables working across Thermo Fisher business and IT organizations: includes program definition, resource estimation, budget management, and scheduling
  • Identify, recruit, and lead your program team including third party consultants/contractors
  • Identify, assess and mitigate program risks
  • Work with program work stream leads from both IT and the business to estimate resource requirements, project activities, and dependencies to build the detailed plans
  • Coordinate activities and manage dependencies across various functional teams to support a highly collaborative work environment
  • Manage prioritization decisions and change requests throughout the life of the program.
  • Communicate key risks and issues to management and sponsors at all levels of the organization, and complete risk planning activities to mitigate and/or eliminate them
  • Establish alliances with other departments and organizations
  • Manage day-to-day program activities and related meetings
  • Capture and report program status and ensure the project management information systems are maintained with accurate and current information on all work streams in the program

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor assigned project portfolio and provide remediation plans for troubled projects
  • Perform project governance activities: serve as PMO advisor on assigned projects, facilitate phase gate reviews, conduct project audits
  • Partner with the central IT PMO on the Project Management Framework and the development and implementation of project management strategy
  • Lead/support continuous process improvement throughout EAS Support resource capacity management processes

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in Computer Science, Business Management, Project Management or Management Information Systems/ Masters' Degree preferred
  • 10+ years of IT experience
  • 7+ years of Program Management
    • Experience within a PMO structure in a fast-paced global GxP validated environment is preferred
  • Experience wth full life cycle ERP implementations
  • Experience managing local and remote team members (15+) on programs of at least twelve months duration
  • Experience with program execution involving mergers and acquisitions highly desirable
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge of IT technologies and practices
  • Ability to explain and champion technical concepts to a broad audience
  • Strong tactical and strategic thinking and problem solving skills
  • Able to achieve big picture objectives while paying attention to details
  • Strong planning and organizational skills, excellent leadership, negotiation and mediation skills, and a demonstrated ability to work with all levels of the organization
  • Ability to work independently with little direction or direct supervision
  • Experience managing programs across geographical regions, across functional teams, and across applications
  • Strong analytical skills, with demonstrated ability to make data driven decisions and contribute to corporate objectives
  • Excellent verbal, written and facilitation skills, with the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, executives, managers, and subject matter experts
  • Ability to function in a team-oriented environment and influence staff, colleagues, and superiors
  • Ability to lead and motivate diverse project teams and juggle multiple tasks
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) and Agile Scrum certifications desired
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, MS Project, Visio and HP-PPM
    • Knowledge of SAP, Oracle, Office365, Salesforce.com highly desired
