Field Service Engineer Anatomical Pathology Division (APD) Benelux

What will you do?
By joining the BeNeLux Commercial team of the Anatomical Pathology Division within Thermo Fisher Scientific, you will report to the Field Service Manager Anatomical Pathology UK-BeNeLux and will be responsible for servicing Anatomical Pathology Instrumentation (slide and cassette printers, microtomes, cryostats, tissue processors, embedding stations, stainers, cover slippers) to all accounts within Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg, and occasionally support your colleagues across the German and French borders.
You'll have responsibility to drive customer satisfaction and service revenue, mostly within the public and private medical diagnostic laboratories.

What will be your key duties and responsibilities?
  • Commercial support
    • Submit sales leads in CRM system (salesforce.com)
    • Proactive promotion of service contract sales
  • Instrument commissioning
    • Perform installation
    • Perform installation qualification
    • Complete documentation for installation
    • Ensure disposal/storage of packaging and dangerous materials
    • Perform operational qualification
    • Perform customer training
    • Perform advanced customer training
    • Complete documentation for training
    • Complete service report and include IQ documentation
  • Instrument preventative maintenance
    • Plan and perform scheduled PM service visits
  • Instrument curative maintenance
    • Establish diagnostic prior to field service intervention
    • Create cost estimate for repair
    • Schedule on-site intervention & inform customer
    • Request instrument decontamination
    • Book hotels, trains, ferries as required for field interventions
    • Perform on-site technical service
    • Communicate the outcome of the service intervention to the customer
    • Complete, and distribute the required service documentation
    • Perform required customer information & instrument update in service software
    • Follow-up with customer after technical intervention
  • Workshop service
    • Prepare instrument for shipping (collection from customer or shipping from workshop)
    • Repair / refurbish instruments and loaners in local workshop
  • Logistics
    • Request car stock replenishment
    • Booking parts in your car stock when you receive them
    • Pack, label, collect and deposit parcels in courier depots
    • Perform car stock cycle count
  • Administration
    • Claim expenses
    • Routine maintenance of car
    • Purchase additional tools and service consumables as needed
  • Training
    • Perform on-site employee technical training (on-the-job training for a colleague)

How will you get here?
  • BSc in Mechanical Engineering/Electronics + FSE experience in healthcare industry or
  • Laboratory Technician degree + solid Lab technician experience in Anatomical Pathology lab + demonstrated skills in maintenance of equipment
  • Excellent command of French, Dutch and English
  • Able to work independently, managing own portfolio of customers
  • Customer oriented
  • Field Service Engineering experience in the healthcare industry
  • Preferably based in Belgium
