Position Summary:
The Optics Technician will be responsible for polishing, coating, and assembly of crystal based assemblies. Daily activities will be primarily focused on manufacturing of optical components and operating and maintaining manufacturing equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform inspection of raw materials and products to ensure acceptability
Vacuum deposition coating of a large variety of lenses
Assist in fabricating and testing optical components
Assemble beam splitters to meet quality and productivity standards
Monitor quality to identify any trends in an effort to reduce costs
Perform preventive maintenance on all equipment
Fabricate (polish and coating) and test a variety of optical components
Work with engineering to improve process efficiency and quality
Provide support on new products and engineering specials
Cross-trained in at least two interdepartmental processes
Support the creation and updating of manufacturing details (MFD’s)
Other miscellaneous duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
5-10 years of optics manufacturing or related experience
High School Diploma required
Associates Degree preferred
Good hand eye coordination
Proven organizational skills
Proven attention to detail and follow up skills
Proven decision making and problem solving skills
Ability to work independently and prioritize work schedule
Proficient with optical fabrication used in department
Ability and willingness to write detailed procedures
Proven understanding of work order and inventory control systems
Demonstrated knowledge of computers and basic SAP skills
Proficient mechanical aptitude required
Familiarity with cost accounting
Fluent verbal and written communication in English
Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills
Basic Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook skills
Experience in large global companies a plus
Independent worker requiring minimal supervision
