This role will provide HR leadership and strategic business partnership as the HR lead for the Europe based leaders in the Applied Technologies business unit within the Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry Division (CMD). These organizations are comprised of employees located in three major regions which include Europe, Americas and Asia. The major responsibilities for this role include support of the Vice President/General Managers for each business unit as well as key leaders to improve organizational capability, drive culture change, define organizational needs, determine training and development needs and strategy, determine hiring needs, resolve employee issues, and contribute to the achievement of the Commercial strategic and operating plan objectives. This individual must possess the ability to quickly grasp the business objectives and strategies of the Applied Technologies team and for each region leveraging human resources team members and capabilities to support the achievement of those objectives.

· Consult with business unit leaders in areas such as organizational assessment, succession planning, organizational structure & design, work force planning and change management in order to strengthen overall organizational capability.
· Proactively manage the Works Council and Union and drive the overall Works Council strategy at eh Bremen site. Develop and drive employee relations and employee communications strategy for the site.
· Ensures alignment of HR processes including Human Resources Review (HRR), Performance Management and Development (PMD), Quarterly Business Reviews (QBR), with strategic and operating goals.
· Drive the HR component of the business strategy through planning, developing, and implementing HR initiatives that increase the efficiency, productivity, competence, and effectiveness of the org.
· Counsel and/or coach employees and managers regarding employee relations issues including performance management, facilitation of formal/informal complaints to resolution, discipline and/or terminations in line with local culture and the business and legal environment.
· Develop HR team members to ensure adequate HR bench strength in the broader HR population.
· Drive employee engagement and satisfaction through promotion of a positive One Thermo Fisher company culture while balancing employee concerns with all levels of company goals.
· Ensure effective talent management including recruitment, assessment and development of employees as the organization grows both organically as well as through acquisition.
· Partner with leaders in assessing and identifying resources to meet employee/departmental and training needs and encouragement of employees to continuously develop their skills in their field of work.
· Manage the partnership with the talent acquisition center, including staffing coordination and job requisition management.
· Manage the annual performance and salary reviews as well as the variable pay programs.
· Responsible for remaining up to date on relevant German and EU employment laws and other human resources compliance issues. Update management on policies/processes as necessary. Responsible for oversight and coordination of any HR regulatory requirements.
· Partner with HR and business leadership across the Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry Division to drive business results.
· Participate and/or lead Division and/or Corporate HR projects focused on continuous process improvement of core programs and services.
· Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degrees required. Master’s degree desired in HR, Business Management or equivalent
· Demonstrable senior leadership experience gained within a complex, multi-site, multi-national environment
· Evidence of working within a matrix managed environment with proven ability to influence and drive change
· Capable of managing multiple stakeholders and encouraging collaboration and alignment in a complex matrix structure
· Expertise in German Labour Law within a co-determined, works council and union influenced environment
· Senior generalist HR expertise as well as experience in transformational leadership
· Deep understanding of Business Partner methodologies and experience in a professional business environment with customer-focused approach
· Demonstrable ability to work with business leaders to define and execute HR strategies that support long term business objectives.
· Proven success translating business strategies into organizational and HR strategies & actions and experience in implementing programs and processes that yield positive results.
· German and English fluency.
