The Field Service Engineer is responsible for the installation, start up and service (preventive and corrective maintenance) for our Continuous Emission Monitoring Systems for mercury analysis in stack gases. The Field Service Engineer will predominantly be visiting clients within Germany (75%), but at times potentially throughout Europe (mainly DACH and partially Poland).

The systems will be installed at coal fired power plants, waste incinerator plants and the cement industry. Full service support in the field is asked for within role, in order to guarantee the required uptime of the systems.

This role will require periods of time away from home and occasionally weekend travel.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Installation, servicing and repair of instruments at our customer sites
  • Provision of technical support as required by the customer, over the telephone and via email
  • Training customers on instrument operation and maintenance
  • Responsible for accurate inventory control of company property
  • Undertake training in related products to allow for expanded Service coverage. This may include products that are not process mass spectrometers or analysers
  • Maintain electronic records of service visits and other enquiries, and retain associated documentation
  • Work with other departments as well as external contractors to ensure customer needs are met with efficiency and professionalism
  • Comply with health and safety and ISO procedures at all times

Educational Qualifications:
  • A successfully completed Higher National Diploma or Certificate in a technical discipline
  • Relevant experience within Service and installing electronic instrumentation and systems
  • The ability to read engineering drawings and circuit schematics
  • Ability to test and undergo fault finding for electronic and electro mechanical assemblies down to component level
  • Strong IT skills with experience of using Microsoft Office products is a re-requisite
  • Full driving license
  • The ability to travel unrestricted throughout the EU
  • Willingness to travel over 75% of working time (70% of this travel will be within Germany, 30% within DACH and partially Poland)
  • Fluent knowledge within German (written & spoken)
  • Intermediate level of business English (written and spoken)
  • Must have good communication skills in English and German
