Job Title: Segment Finance Manager, LSP
Directly Reports To: Sr. Director, Finance, LSP
Group/Division: LPG / LCD
Location: Rochester NY

Position Summary:
The Segment Finance Manager for LSP is responsible for driving financial insights and accountability across the $0.6B Labware & Specialty Plastics Business Unit. This role is responsible for identifying and mitigating financial risk and opportunity, while partnering with the Sr. Director of LSP Finance and select members of the LSP leadership team to accelerate profitable growth.

Primary Job Responsibilities:
Any or all of the following will be included in the scope of this position depending on the individual selected and the balance of work needed at the discretion of the Sr. Director, LSP Finance.
  • Drive effective partnerships with Manufacturing operations
  • Shape efficient and effective global reporting, forecasting and accountability processes
  • Be recognized as key decision-making business partner evaluating and approving:
    • Business opportunities
    • New product development business cases
    • Pricing strategies and product positioning
    • Headcount and other investment proposals
    • Mergers, acquisitions and other external partnerships
  • Drive meaningful analytics and reporting into the business by working closely with sales operations and commercial leadership
  • Drive reporting, forecasting and accountability processes for global Selling, Marketing, G&A, and R&D spending
  • Provide financial leadership to global R&D
    • Improve business case development to prioritize R&D budget across the division
    • Enforce business case discipline within the stage gate processes
  • Work with sales operations and strategic pricing to evaluate price/volume levers and the effectiveness of promotions and business opportunities
  • Support the strategic planning process and partner with LSP leadership on same
  • Support the LSP Annual Operating Plan
    • For organic revenue growth, ensuring alignment between business unit and commercial objectives and targets
    • For global selling, marketing and R&D spending, ensuring affordability and prioritization of investment proposals

  • Experience in commercial elements of a product based business with demonstrated experience partnering with business leaders
  • Strong understanding of the interdependencies of the customer fulfilment, inventory, and manufacturing volumes.

  • Exceptional analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Self-motivated with high bias for action and accountability
  • High level of energy; can bring a passion to excel. Able to energize and influence a wide spectrum of people, including senior financial and operations professionals.

  • Drives a culture of accountability

Job Requirements:
  • An undergraduate degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting is required; an MBA or CPA is preferred
  • An ideal candidate will possess excellent academic credentials and a strong aptitude in financial analysis
  • Experience in the Life Sciences industry is desired
  • He/she should have a minimum of 10+ years of progressively responsible business experience, including managing global teams
  • Experience in a global manufacturing organization is desired
  • Strong knowledge of Excel (i.e., financial models and analysis), Cognos reporting tool (or equivalent), PowerPoint, and Hyperion is preferred
  • The successful candidate should expect travel of 10 - 15%
