Job Description

Job title: Field Service Engineer, Laboratory Equipment Group
Location: Central UK (Field based)


  • To enhance quality of service on defined range/s of equipment
  • Assess and report on product quality issues
  • Communicate with UK specialist to work together for overall product service improvements
  • Build relationship with staff at key account customers
  • Troubleshoot and complete repairs, installations and routine services where required
  • Give field accompaniment to new staff and mentor where possible.
  • Create sales leads while on site.
Records and Reporting
  • Adhere to all Company internal and ISO9000 procedures
  • Create complaints when they are identified
  • Complete company reports such as MoTAS and forward to the office in a timely manner
  • Monitor of engineer parts boot stock inventory consumption to optimize usage

Product and Company Knowledge

  • Maintain thorough knowledge of product ranges and services
  • Communicate product knowledge to core support teams

Market Knowledge

  • Identify all competitors working in the territory
  • Enhance Thermo service offerings to meet or exceed competition

Skills and Aptitudes:

  • Must live in relevant region
  • Full, clean driving license.
  • Electro/ mechanical qualification.
  • Relevant knowledge of defined ranges of laboratory products
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Smart, professional appearance

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Electro/ mechanical qualification i.e. ONC/HNC/NVQ or equivalent
  • 3 - 7 years of relevant work experience
  • Strong E&M/ Life Science industry engineering background, or extensive scientific/ functional knowledge of product applications.
  • Must live in relevant region
