Job Title: Manager - Business Planning

Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Director Business Planning to manage the Business Planning Group to deliver project management services to meet client requirements in terms of quality, compliance and delivery times in order to achieve and exceed business plan.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage and control the work load of the Business Planning group to ensure that quality and internal/external timescales are achieved. To establish Key Performance Indicators for the section and to monitor performance against these taking appropriate actions where these are not achieved.

  • In line with company procedures to recruit, train and develop staff ensuring that resource levels meet business plan requirements.

  • Monitors and evaluates the performance of the Business Planning group and generates annual and mid year performance reviews for all direct reports.

  • Establishes goals for each direct report employee in line with career and organisational development plans.

  • Establishes, delegates and monitors departmental projects, objectives and initiatives.

  • To manage and participate in the regular review and updating of the sections SOP’s ensuring direct reports are trained or made aware of any changes and communicating with others who may be impacted by the change.

  • Manages daily questions and issues from Internal and External Clients

  • Supporting the Director to develop the sections business plan and to work to manage the control spend and maximise revenue

  • Ensure that the team delivers assessments of clinical protocol and other client supplied study specifications and contracts in conjunction with business plan and production, to help design supply chain solutions to meet the needs of the trial. To take the lead where the trials are particularly complex or business critical.

  • Take part in senior management meeting and to provide relevant information to the meeting including project updates and Key Business Performance Indicators.

  • Working through the direct reports to ensure all Fisher Clinical Services activities come together in a timely manner – this could include supporting direct reports to overcome barriers to service delivery.

  • Working with the Client Services group to optimise the production of clinical supplies balancing the client requirements with the best use of available production capacity. Where possible to work towards using standard components for production.

  • Ensuring that defence bids/ customer visits/ Tele conferences are adequately resourced. Working with Contracts and Proposals and Sales to develop business leads and market intelligence.

·To undertake ad hoc duties as directed and agreed with the Director Business Planning

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications: (Bullets)

  • Degree Level or Equivalent in relevant subject
  • Qualifications within the Project Management and/or Clinical Trial area

Non-Negotiable Hiring Criteria: (Bullet 3-5 key quantifiable skills or position requirements that the candidate must have to be considered for this position.)

  • Relevant experience of clinical trial packaging which must include handling complex protocols, key clients and business objectives.
  • Ability to recruit and manage staff to achieve business objectives. Able to prioritise teams workload and to ensure others meet timescales
  • Able to analyse problems and define solutions
  • Ability to influence others to achieve objectives, good written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to work under pressure and to support others within the team
  • Flexible and adaptable with strong customer management skills

Capable of contributing to the section management team and of championing business improvement possibly in the face of resistance.
